Rejected Lesson Plan #46: Shakespeare and Cross Dressing

Assignment: Create a lesson plan for Twelfth Night that will enable students to empathize with the characters more completely.

Goals: Students will laugh hysterically at jokes composed over 400 years ago. They will also throw their televisions out the window and get library cards.

Lesson: By Act I, Scene iii, Viola has disguised herself as Cesario, a handsome, David Bowie-esque servant to Count Orsino. But unless you've put yourself in her shoes, the humor of this situation will largely escape you. So:
1) Male students are to raid their mothers', sisters', girlfriends' closets and find all the frilly, lacy, enticing garments they possibly can. Female students are to...I don't know, go fly a kite or something.

2) Males are to bring the clothes to school tomorrow. Oh, and cameras. Lots of cameras. Now, females, you've got a special assignment in the hallways outside, while the males are to dim the lights and then...
NOTE: Rest of assignment deleted. Teacher placed on Administrative Leave.
